Serving Seniors In Enumclaw

So - today I spent a few hours up in the beautiful city of Enumclaw - talking to some of our fine Seniors about the Services which the Senior Services Team - provides. If you haven't been to Enumclaw - you need to check it out. It's beautifully situated in the foothills of Mount Rainier - with very scenic views of mountains surrounded by very high trees. Now that I reside in the Pacific North West, I'm learning to really appreciate nature.

I gave out lots of brouchures, answered a lot of questions and tried to recruite volunteer drivers. I couldn't help but notice that some seniors remain strong, active and were even willing to volunteer their time to help others. That to me is truly remarkable, I think we can all learn something from that.

Once again, if you are looking for a way to make a meaningful contribution to your community, call Senior Services at 1 888 435 3377 or visit our website at http://www.seniorservices.org/ we have lots of volunteer opportunities.

Stay tuned..

Starting Out @ Senior Services

I recently took on new job as a Recruiter(Volunteers) with Senior Services, transportation program. Senior Services is a non profit organisation servicing older adults with various needs in the king county area of Washington State.

We provide transportation to medical appointments and other local errands. I remember going out on one of our shuttle vans to pick up some of our clients, just to get a feel for the type of clients we are serving and why there is an urgent need for more Volunteers Drivers.

I recall wondering how our Seniors would get around without the types of services which the Senior Services Team provides.

I have a renewed appreciation for those who Volunteer their resources and time to support any cause. In particular, my hat goes off to our tireless Volunteer Drivers, who just continue to give more and more of their time to this program. Our clients are so appreciative of this program and one client said (thank you note) "if not for this program I would have been dead by now, sometimes i go a whole week without seeing anyone but when Volunteer Drivers come to pick me up for my appointment, they are very helpful and i get to chat with someone". I guess my point is this, we need more and more people to volunteer in the community in which they live for a cause they believe in- charity they say begins at home.

If you live in the king county region and you are looking for a way to make a difference in your community, contact Senior Services at 206 448 5740 or visit our website @ http://www.seniorservices.org/

Give your time, Give a ride and Give Seniors back their independence.
